Workgroup Review of Second ROSE Draft Hosted by NPC & SPUR

On June 17th, 2009, NPC and the San Francisco Planning and Urban Research Association (SPUR) hosted a workgroup of community and organizational leaders to discuss the latest draft of the Recreation and Open Space Element (ROSE).  The ROSE defines policy related to establishing a high performing open space system for the City.

The review session was an exciting opportunity to collect a diverse and broad range of input from a host of sources to improve the City’s vision and plan for recreation and open space for the next 25 years.  Lots of innovative new ideas resulted from the meeting that will ensure that our city’s open space will be sustainable and equitable.  The main conclusion was that a partnership between local communities and the city government must be made in order to maintain a high performing and sustainable open space system.

Ideas from the meeting were consolidated by NPC and submitted to the Planning Department at the end of June.  Thanks to everyone who participated—we look forward to seeing the impact of your ideas in the final draft of ROSE when it is released.
